Oscar Owens was a right-hander and mainstay for the Homestead Grays in the 1910s and 1920s. According to Riley's Biographical Encyclopedia, Owens "and Lefty Williams were the same size and similar in appearance and frequently were confused by the fans, leading to stories that the Grays had a pitcher who could pitch with both arms" (p. 593).

Is anyone familiar with Oscar Owens? Supposedly he pitched for the Homestead Grays (year unknown), and was ambidextrous.

Here's a bit of updated information on Horace Cole: http://arkbaseball.com/tiki-index.php?page=Horace+Cole

Caleb Hardwick

Good stuff on Cole. I hadn't heard of him before. I'd like to look into him a little deeper when I get a chance. It looks like his brother Clarence played for the Dubisson Tigers, a Little Rock team.
