We know about Ramón Herrera and Pedro Dibut, who played in both the Negro National League and the major leagues during the 1920s. We know about earlier Cuban players, such as Rafael Almeida and Armando Marsans, who played for Cuban traveling teams that were essentially part of the blackball circuit, and later performed in the majors.
But did any non-Latin player between Fleet Walker and Jackie Robinson play for both a major league team and an all-black team? Well, it turns out there was at least one. I’ve recently uncovered a previously unknown straddler of the color line in the 1910s. Check out my article in the latest Outsider Baseball Bulletin.
