Now there’s verification, in the form of an article from the Kansas City Sun (May 1, 1920), that the Monarchs’ pitcher was in fact Charley Lightner. By the way, “Bare” would be the Cuban outfielder Bernardo Baró, who was listed with the Monarchs on several preseason rosters, but ended up with the Cuban Stars.
