Andrew "Ajax" Jackson was one of the best black third basemen of the 19th Century. He played on the 1886 Alpines of Brooklyn, the colored champions of New York City. He was also a member of the 1891 Gorhams great team and the 1894 Cuban Giants team that won 124 games (he was team captain).

From 1893-1895 he had 331 hits in 218 games in Cuban Giants boxscores that I have found so far. That is more hits than teammate Frank Grant had over this same time period.

This death certificate can help me to find out more information about Andrew Jackson.
